Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering (Southern Region)

We’re working with a leading civil engineering contractor to support the continued growth of their commercial team. They are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a key role on major infrastructure schemes across the Southern Region.
The position will initially involve work on a significant highways scheme near Folkestone or a major infrastructure project at the Port of Dover, supporting the delivery of critical works within a fast-paced environment.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take ownership of commercial and contractual management across your projects, ensuring strong financial performance while supporting junior team members and driving best practice across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management of civil engineering projects
  • Support and mentor Assistant and Project Quantity Surveyors
  • Maximise profitability and control project costs against budget
  • Prepare estimates, cost plans and forecasts
  • Manage subcontract procurement and agreements
  • Assess interim and final subcontractor payments
  • Prepare, value and agree main contract variations (NEC)
  • Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Assist with dispute resolution (including adjudication where required)
  • Ensure compliance with QA, safety and environmental standards

About You

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering
  • Strong background in highways or major infrastructure projects
  • Experienced in NEC contract administration
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Strong numerical, analytical and IT capability
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
