I am seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established regional contractor, specialising in housing contracts both social and residential.
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Sunderland and Gateshead
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Manage the full lifecycle of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for housing projects.
- Contract Administration: Oversee the administration of contracts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Procurement: Prepare and issue tender documents, evaluate bids, and manage supplier/subcontractor relationships.
- Site Visits & Reporting: Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Risk & Value Management: Identify potential risks and provide proactive solutions to minimize cost overruns or delays.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the contracting sector. Housing experience is preferred but not essential.
- Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, or working towards professional accreditation (MRICS or similar).
- Skills: Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost management, and financial reporting. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency.
- Software Knowledge: Proficient in the use of Quantity Surveying software and Microsoft Office applications
