Design Manager – Infrastructure & Energy
We are seeking an experienced Design Lead to oversee the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects across the infrastructure and utilities sectors.
This is a senior leadership role within a well-established engineering and construction environment, delivering end-to-end solutions from feasibility through to commissioning. Projects span regulated infrastructure, environmental improvement schemes, industrial facilities and energy-related developments.
The Role
You will lead design delivery across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality, safe and buildable solutions are produced in line with client requirements, programme constraints and commercial objectives.
You will also play a key role in driving technical excellence, promoting low-carbon design approaches, and ensuring effective coordination across engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary design delivery across projects and programmes
- Manage and develop teams across civil, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
- Oversee production of detailed designs suitable for construction and delivery
- Ensure compliance with quality, cost, and programme requirements
- Drive innovation and value engineering, including low-carbon solutions
- Manage design risk and opportunity throughout project lifecycle
- Provide technical leadership and governance across design outputs
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders
About You
- Degree qualified in Engineering
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or equivalent experience)
- Strong background in infrastructure design delivery
- Experience working within regulated environments (e.g. utilities, water, energy or similar)
- Understanding of CDM 2015 Designer / Principal Designer responsibilities
- Ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
