An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Alarm Designer to join the Asset Intelligence division of a leading UK infrastructure contractor.
You'll be joining a specialist, award-winning team delivering intelligent fire, security and life safety solutions across Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). Working on complex, high-profile projects, you'll play a key role in developing technically robust solutions that protect critical assets and meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
With a strong pipeline of secured work and long-term frameworks across the water, energy, defence, transport and telecommunications sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business backed by the resources and stability of a major Tier 1 contractor.
Location: Warrington, with hybrid working available and travel to project sites across Lincolnshire.
The Role
As a Fire Alarm Designer, you'll be responsible for developing fire detection and life safety solutions from initial concept through to installation and handover.
Working closely with engineers, project teams and clients, you'll produce high-quality designs that meet project requirements, comply with relevant legislation and deliver practical, commercially viable solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:

Designing fire alarm and detection systems in line with client specifications, project requirements and applicable legislation.

Producing detailed technical documentation, including detector layouts, loop drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, panel layouts and fire strategies.

Developing PA/VA systems and associated fire and life safety solutions.

Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, including BS 5839, BS 7671 and BS 7273.

Liaising with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure designs are coordinated, accurate and suitable for installation.

Supporting the delivery of compliant, high-quality solutions across complex infrastructure projects.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Designer with a strong technical understanding of fire detection systems and life safety design.
Ideally, you'll have:

Proven experience designing fire alarm, fire detection and life safety systems.

A strong understanding of relevant industry standards, legislation and compliance requirements.

Experience with PA/VA, fire suppression and fire stopping systems.

Experience producing technical documentation, including User Requirements Specifications (URS) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).

Familiarity with BIM environments and the ability to interpret 3D models.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.

An ONC, HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
