The Opportunity
Our client is a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure business delivering major projects through a water infrastructure alliance.
With AMP8 driving significant investment across the water sector, they're looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead engineering delivery across a portfolio of potable water, treatment and non-infrastructure projects, including a major £60m water treatment works upgrade.
The Role
You'll lead a multidisciplinary team of around 15–20 engineers and design professionals, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading design delivery across multiple water infrastructure projects.

Managing engineering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources.

Providing technical direction and maintaining design quality.

Coordinating suppliers, subcontractors and external design partners.

Supporting value engineering and sustainable design solutions.

Managing design risk and delegated Principal Designer duties under CDM.

Mentoring and developing the design team.
-
Driving innovation, digital technology and continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Design Manager with:

A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Proven experience within the water industry.

Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.

Strong design management and project delivery skills.

Knowledge of CDM and design risk management.
Experience delivering potable water or water treatment projects would be advantageous, as would Chartered Engineer status or a willingness to work towards chartership.
