We’re recruiting an Assistant Site Manager to join an established housebuilder on a major new-build residential development in County Durham.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a substantial 240-home development with a five-year programme, offering long-term stability, the chance to gain valuable experience on a large-scale project, and genuine opportunities for career progression.
The development will feature a mix of construction methods, with 41 timber-frame properties and the remainder built using traditional construction methods. The scheme will also include 61 homes for a Housing Association.
We’re looking for an ambitious and motivated individual who has some experience within residential construction and is keen to take the next step towards becoming a Site Manager. While a traditional trades background is not essential, the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn are key.
The Role
Working alongside the site management team, you will help oversee the day-to-day running of the development, ensuring homes are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Site Manager with the daily management and coordination of site operations.
- Monitoring build progress against programme and ensuring agreed deadlines are achieved.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the development.
- Carrying out quality inspections and helping ensure homes meet required specifications.
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades and materials to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Assisting with site inspections, reporting and resolving any issues that arise during construction.
- Helping deliver a high-quality product for both private purchasers and Housing Association clients.
- Contributing to a positive, organised and productive site environment.
About You
We’re keen to speak with individuals who have some experience in residential housebuilding and are ready to take on more responsibility.
You may already be working as an Assistant Site Manager, Trainee Site Manager or in a similar site-based role, with the ambition and potential to progress into a Site Manager position.
You’ll ideally demonstrate:
- Some experience working on a residential construction site.
- A good understanding of the housebuilding process and site operations.
- A proactive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively with subcontractors and the wider site team.
- A commitment to health and safety and delivering quality homes.
- The ambition to develop your skills and progress your career.
Experience with timber-frame construction would be beneficial but is not essential.
What’s on Offer?
- Salary up to £45,000, depending on experience.
- £5,200 car allowance.
- Eligibility for a company car following successful completion of probation.
- Company bonus scheme of up to 20% of annual salary.
- A long-term role on a five-year residential development.
- The opportunity to gain experience across both traditional and timber-frame construction.
