Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major London sewer remediation package. The Site Engineer will initially support works on a critical asset where bridge-supported sewer sections cross rail and highway interfaces, with the wider programme focused on strengthening the network for decades ahead. Recent related work in the area has also included parallel rising main upgrades and sewer resilience improvements across the East London network.
This Site Engineer role will suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, accurate setting out and working closely with site delivery teams to keep complex civils works progressing safely, to programme and to the required quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day site engineering support as Site Engineer across multiple project work fronts
- Establish levels, survey control and accurate setting out from contract drawings
- Carry out regular checks to ensure works are installed correctly and to specification
- Support the Site Agent and wider team with short-term lookaheads, sequencing and resource planning
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of RAMS, ITPs, project plans and site records
- Maintain accurate site diaries, allocation sheets, drawing registers and photographic records
- Support pre-construction reviews, permits and stakeholder consent processes before works start
- Promote safe working practices, environmental compliance and the highest quality standards
- Identify value engineering opportunities and highlight risks early to the site team
- Monitor commercial awareness on site and support notification of variations where required
- Build strong working relationships with the site workforce and customer technical representatives
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the Site Engineer package to programme and budget
Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety and legal compliance
- Fully conversant with robotic total station or EDM equipment
- Degree or HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- CSCS card
Desirable:
- Experience using AutoCAD and MS Office
- Temporary Works Co-ordination experience
- Cable avoidance training
- First Aid training
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
- SMSTS
