Senior Architect - Residential

We are currently partnering with a well-established architectural practice seeking an Senior Architect to join their team in Leeds.

You will act as the Design Team Leader, responsible for preparing, managing, and coordinating all project activities across RIBA Stages 1–7, ensuring delivery aligns with the project brief, meets agreed programmes, and adheres to company standards. You will also supervise technical staff and support the wider team in the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and specification of building projects, ensuring compliance with current guidelines, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage projects through planning applications, Building Regulations, and listed building consent where required.
  • Independently lead multidisciplinary design teams as Project Architect on medium to large, mid-complexity projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Support senior colleagues in leading large, complex, or high-risk projects.
  • Contribute to the project management and delivery of complex schemes, ensuring successful outcomes in line with client and company expectations.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants, maintaining performance standards and design quality.
  • Engage proactively with clients, delivering a high level of service within commercial constraints.
  • Lead and drive discussions on architectural and technical matters.
  • Take responsibility for fee forecasting, invoicing, and project profitability on projects you lead.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional conduct, demonstrating commitment to the practice and its clients.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years residential experience
  • Qualified ARB-registered Architect with a relevant degree (or equivalent) and post-qualification experience.
  • Membership of ARB and ideally RIBA or other professional bodies.
  • Proven track record in architectural design and project delivery within relevant sectors.
  • Experience working across a variety of projects, clients, and operational areas.
  • Strong ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of architectural design principles, theory, and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of related building and engineering disciplines and their integration within projects.
  • Ability to apply technical judgement to ensure compliance with design standards.
  • Solid understanding of the design and construction industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office, with advanced expertise in key platforms.
  • Experience using CMAP and Newforma.
