About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Security Designer to join a specialist design team delivering advanced physical and electronic security solutions across some of the UK’s most complex Critical National Infrastructure projects.
You’ll be working on high-profile, technically challenging programmes where security design is absolutely critical to operational performance, resilience, and safety. This is a chance to move beyond standard design work and play a key role in shaping fully integrated, modern security systems across major infrastructure environments.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be at the heart of the design process, working across multiple projects and taking ownership of key technical outputs, including:
- Leading site visits and supporting the wider design team as the key point of contact for subcontract design coordination
- Developing electronic security scopes and technical specifications following surveys and 3D site data capture
- Producing detailed design outputs including system layouts, network architecture, cable schedules and system documentation
- Managing Technical Queries (TQs) and supporting formal change control processes
- Reviewing subcontractor designs, specifications and technical submissions to ensure compliance and quality
- Supporting tendering and project delivery teams with technical input and bid documentation
- Ensuring all designs align with client requirements, security standards and regulatory expectations
- Driving innovation and value engineering to deliver cost-effective, robust solutions
About You
You’ll already have solid experience in electronic security system design and integration, ideally within infrastructure, regulated environments or complex multi-site projects.
Essential Experience
- Strong understanding of integrated security systems including Access Control, Intruder Alarms, IP CCTV, and Intercom/Audio systems
- Experience integrating systems into ARC/RVRC or similar security management platforms
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation (URS, FDS, etc.)
- Good working knowledge of CDM regulations
- Competent user of Microsoft Office
- ONC / HNC / BEng (or equivalent qualification/experience)
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Critical National Infrastructure or water sector projects
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or BIM environments (PAS 1192)
- Experience with AMTECH or similar design tools
