We are currently partnering with a well-established architectural practice seeking an Architect to join their team in Leeds.
You will act as, or support, the Design Team Leader in preparing, managing, and coordinating project activities across RIBA Stages 1–7, ensuring delivery aligns with the project brief, meets agreed programmes, and maintains company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and specification of building projects, ensuring compliance with current guidelines, standards, and regulations.
- Manage projects through planning applications, Building Regulations, and listed building consent where required.
- Independently lead multidisciplinary design teams as Project Architect on smaller projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality expectations.
- Support senior colleagues in leading small to medium-sized projects.
- Assist in the delivery of complex and high-risk projects, ensuring successful outcomes in line with client and company expectations.
- Manage and coordinate external consultants, maintaining performance standards and design quality.
- Engage proactively with clients, providing a high level of service within commercial constraints.
- Lead discussions relating to architectural and technical matters.
- Assist with fee forecasting, invoicing, and project profitability monitoring.
- Maintain a high standard of professional conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate commitment to the practice and its clients, with flexibility to meet project demands when required.
Requirements:
- 3 years + experience with heritage projects
- Qualified ARB-registered Architect with a relevant degree (or equivalent) and post-qualification experience.
- Membership of ARB and ideally other professional bodies such as RIBA.
- Developing track record in architectural design and project delivery within relevant sectors.
- Experience working across a variety of projects, clients, and operational areas.
- Ability to support, organise, and guide multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound understanding of architectural design principles, theory, and practice.
- Good knowledge of related building and engineering disciplines and their integration within project delivery.
- Ability to apply technical judgement to ensure compliance with design standards.
- Understanding of the design and construction industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using CMAP and Newforma.
