Site Agent

Overview

Experienced Site Agent needed to run a critical highways and bridge replacement scheme on the A259 over the River Cuckmere. The work is a two-lane bridge replacement (new structure built alongside the existing to keep traffic moving) on a busy coastal route — a high-profile, strategically funded local infrastructure job with main-contractor responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day on-site delivery: manage site teams, operatives and subcontractors.

  • Own health & safety on site: produce and enforce RAMS, method statements, and site safety plans.

  • Programme & cost control: prepare and monitor programmes, track costs versus budget and forecast variations.

  • Contract management: administer contract changes, manage subcontractor appointments and payments.

  • Design coordination & risk control: co-ordinate designers, manage technical queries and resolve site design/interface issues.

  • Stakeholder & public liaison: manage local engagement and maintain the client/consultant relationship.

  • Mentor and develop junior staff and ensure quality and compliance on all activities.

Qualifications & experience:

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent or Senior Site Agent on civil/highways schemes (highways, earthworks and structures).

  • Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent).

  • SMSTS and valid CSCS card.

  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

  • Strong track record of running programmes and budgets and maintaining accurate site records.

Desirable

  • First Aid at Work.

  • Experience on bridge or river-crossing projects and working in environmentally sensitive areas (e.g. South Downs National Park).
