Linear Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established civil engineering contractor to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their Southern Region.
This role will initially support a major critical infrastructure scheme near Eastbourne, East Sussex, commencing in early 2026. The 18-month programme includes highways and bridge construction works and offers the opportunity to play a key commercial role on a high-profile civils project.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of the scheme, ensuring profitability and contractual compliance throughout. Duties will include:

Mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff

Monitoring costs against budgets and maximising contract profitability

Identifying and managing commercial risks
-
Procurement and management of subcontractors
-
Assessment and certification of subcontract payments

Management and agreement of variations
-
Supporting dispute resolution where required

Ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental procedures
Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment

Strong background in civil engineering projects, ideally highways and structures

Experience administering NEC contracts

Strong commercial acumen, numeracy and IT skills

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within the region
