Our Client, a well-established construction business founded in 2003, recognised across the UK for our solutions-led advice, innovative design work, and the delivery of quality building projects. With a focus on commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and healthcare sectors, they take projects from concept to completion. Services include full design and build, interior fit-outs, complex civil engineering works, value engineering, inception budget cost advice, procurement, and delivering projects on time and on budget.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a permanent basis. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors, supporting our goal of excellence, innovation and working in partnership with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans at inception, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
- Manage cost control across the project lifecycle – monitor expenditure, measure variations, and report on budget status.
- Undertake procurement of subcontractors and materials, negotiate contracts, and ensure value for money.
- Carry out risk assessments and advise on mitigation.
- Collaborate with design, project management, and site teams to ensure cost-efficient and cost-effective design solutions (value engineering).
- Prepare interim and final valuations and ensure payments are managed and processed correctly.
- Maintain thorough documentation and communication with all stakeholders (clients, contractors, consultants).
- Support and mentor junior QS staff; contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
Requirements
- Fully-qualified/chartered Quantity Surveyor or working towards chartership.
- Significant experience (for senior role) managing surveyor duties across commercial, industrial, retail, leisure or healthcare projects.
- Strong understanding of procurement, contract forms, and cost management practices.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and financial reporting skills.
- Proven ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proactive, solutions-driven, with strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills – able to liaise across teams, clients, and supply chain.
- Comfortable working in a company committed to standards (health & safety, quality, environment).
