Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor delivering a major city centre infrastructure and regeneration project in Sheffield. The Senior Engineer will take ownership of engineering delivery across highways, public realm and drainage works, leading the site engineering function while ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the site engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
- Assist the Site Agent with planning, programming and coordinating engineering activities to achieve project milestones.
- Oversee setting out, engineering control and surveying activities across multiple work areas.
- Produce, review and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring all hold points, inspections and testing requirements are achieved.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain accurate engineering records including site diaries, quality documentation, as-built surveys, red-line drawings and test results.
- Coordinate engineering activities with subcontractors and support effective delivery across all disciplines.
- Work closely with the commercial team by providing accurate records to support valuations, change management and financial reporting.
- Promote the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance across site.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying innovative engineering solutions and improving site processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience as a Senior Engineer or experienced Site Engineer on highways, public realm, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- SMSTS and relevant CSCS Card.
- Strong setting out experience using Total Station, GPS and surveying equipment, with the ability to oversee engineering control across multiple work fronts.
- Experience delivering highways improvements, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete, paving or urban infrastructure works.
- Strong understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality assurance processes, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate subcontractors and support programme delivery within live construction environments.
- Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
