We are a well-established and growing Groundworks, Earthworks and Civil Engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and development projects across the region. Working with leading housebuilders, developers, local authorities and main contractors, they have built a reputation for delivering projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial aspects of groundworks, earthworks and civil engineering projects.
- Preparing, submitting and negotiating interim valuations and final accounts.
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow.
- Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations.
- Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
- Preparing subcontract orders and assessing subcontractor applications.
- Producing accurate cost reports and commercial updates.
- Supporting project teams with contractual and commercial advice.
- Managing risk and identifying opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Assisting with tender reviews and pre-construction activities where required.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Requirements
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working for a Groundworks, Earthworks or Civil Engineering contractor.
- Strong understanding of commercial management and cost control processes.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong contractual knowledge.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on residential infrastructure, roads, sewers and associated groundworks packages.
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
