Project Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of a new-build electrical substation project in Taunton. This is an initial 9-month contract with strong extension potential, as the overall programme is expected to run for approximately three years.

This role requires a technically competent engineer with strong HSE leadership, commercial awareness, and experience delivering complex infrastructure works preferably on National Grid projects. This role is on an inside IR35 basis. 

Key Duties:

  • Write, review and approve RAMS, including subcontractor RAMS acceptance

  • Identify, raise and report risks and hazards

  • Ensure workforce competency and sufficiency

  • Control and issue safety documentation

  • Complete audits and set people to work in accordance with procedures

  • Support the Project Manager in delivering works safely, on programme and within budget

  • Help ensure reporting provides accurate and relevant information to enable informed, cost-effective decisions aligned with overall project strategy

  • Assist in defining scope and package allocation to support coordinated working across disciplines

  • Specify, interpret and implement technical information and drawings into delivery activities

  • Understand and specify plant and equipment requirements to support construction activities

  • Coordinate civil, electrical and mechanical installation works

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and programme milestones

  • Support commissioning and handover documentation

Candidates need to hold CSCS Card with a qualification in construction/engineering and have relevant industry experience.
