Are you a dynamic Senior Preconstruction Project Manager (Senior Bid Manager) looking for your next challenge? We are working with a Tier 1 Main Contractor, who are seeking a dedicated professional, to join their team in Greater Manchester.
In this role, you will report to a Preconstruction Manager and take charge of managing the preconstruction bid process. Your expertise will guide both internal and external resources to ensure the delivery of high-quality bids, on time, while exceeding customer expectations whenever possible.
You will lead two-stage and negotiated tenders for projects valued between £5m and £80m across diverse sectors such as Education, Leisure, Health, Blue Light, Transport, and Commercial. The frameworks they operate through significantly increase the chances of seeing your hard work come to fruition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Motivate: Direct a bid team comprising internal professionals (estimators, designers, MEP experts, planners) and external resources (supply chain and consultants).
- Develop Strategies: Collaborate closely with your team to formulate effective commercial strategies.
- Manage Expectations: Foster strong client relationships through informal and formal 'health checks', ensuring a professional and considerate approach.
- Implement Sustainability: Develop and integrate project strategies that align with their sustainability objectives.
- Monitor Progress: Regularly oversee and report on project advancements, manage risks and opportunities, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
- Continuous Improvement: Advocate for professional development for yourself and your team, implementing best practices for ongoing improvement.
- Seamless Transition: Maintain a collaborative 'one team' approach to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
- Engage Clients: Conduct inception workshops with customers and use your keen listening skills to understand their core needs and objectives, enabling your bid team to excel.
Essential and Desirable Criteria:
To thrive in this role, you should have experience in managing diverse technical inputs, a solid understanding of complex construction schemes, and a proven ability to lead the bid process. A background in any construction technical role, including Operations, Planning, Commercial, Design, or Estimating, will give you a head start.
