Estimator - Facades

Our client is looking for an experienced Estimator with facades experience to join their team in Solihull.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine architectural drawings, specifications, and related project documents to accurately determine the scope and specific requirements for facade construction.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates encompassing materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services for facade components such as cladding, curtain walls, insulation, glazing, and structural supports.
  • Perform precise quantity takeoffs through estimation software and manual calculations to establish material and labour needs.
  • Source competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials at the best prices; develop and maintain a reliable network of vendors.
  • Create detailed budgets for each project phase, monitor expenditures, and adjust estimates as necessary to meet project objectives and client expectations.
  • Prepare professional, competitive proposals with detailed cost breakdowns, timelines, and scope descriptions for client and stakeholder review.
  • Assess potential risks such as material shortages, labour constraints, and weather impacts; incorporate appropriate contingencies into cost estimates.
  • Maintain organised records of all estimates, revisions, and supporting documents to ensure transparency and facilitate future reference.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, architects, and construction teams to ensure alignment on project specifications, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating facade or building envelope projects, preferably in commercial or industrial construction environments.
  • Proficiency with estimation software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff, along with strong Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Familiarity with facade materials including glass, metal, stone, and cladding systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, standards, and industry best practices preferable.
