Clerk of Works / Quality Manager

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for a new role which combines the skills and duties of a Clerk of Works and Quality Manager. This combined role will require a proactive individual with extensive experience in both construction site management and quality control processes. The successful candidate will oversee the quality assurance and quality control on-site, ensure compliance with construction standards, monitor construction activities, and provide clear and accurate reporting. They will also work to build relationships with Clients during the delivery of the projects and then manage and snagging defects reported once the build is complete.  It’s essential the right candidate has a good knowledge of the build process and strong IT skills.  We welcome applications from Clarke of Works, Site Managers, Project Managers, Snagging and finishing Managers, and Quality Managers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Construction Oversight:
    • Monitor construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to architectural drawings, specifications, and schedules.
    • Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with contractual requirements and industry standards.
    • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with safety and legal requirements.
    • Inspect materials, workmanship, and workmanship quality to ensure they meet the project requirements.
    • Resolve any on-site issues, ensuring minimal disruption to progress.

 

  1. Quality Management:
    • Develop and implement the Quality Management System (QMS) for the project, ensuring it aligns with company standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure construction activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
    • Identify potential risks and areas for improvement in the construction processes and propose corrective actions.
    • Provide guidance and training on quality control procedures to site staff, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and verify the effectiveness of those actions.

 

  1. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, approvals, and quality control processes.
    • Prepare detailed progress reports, quality control reports, and any non-compliance reports for project management and stakeholders.
    • Assist with project documentation and ensure all quality-related documents are up-to-date and easily accessible.

 

  1. Communication & Coordination:
    • Foster open communication between project teams, contractors, and suppliers to promote a collaborative and transparent work environment.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues and concerns.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Quality Manager, or a similar role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, inspection techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and building codes.
  • Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or quality management (e.g., NEBOSH, CQI, or similar certifications).
  • Proficient in IT systems such as Microsoft Suites.
