Site Manager

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering essential London infrastructure and flood resilience works. The Site Manager will take ownership of safe, efficient and high-quality site delivery across civils and MEICA interfaces, ensuring the Site Manager role drives programme performance, buildability, compliance and commercial control.

This Site Manager position is ideal for someone who is confident managing site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders on complex water or heavy civils projects. The Site Manager will play a key role in maintaining standards, resolving site issues quickly and ensuring works are delivered to the required specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day site operations as Site Manager, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant delivery
  • Manage civils works, temporary works and MEICA interfaces across the project
  • Support design coordination, review drawings and challenge buildability, sequencing and access
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager, engineers and commercial team
  • Oversee subcontractors, labour, plant and materials to maintain progress and control costs
  • Ensure RAMS, permits, inductions and site controls are in place and followed
  • Monitor programme performance and proactively resolve site issues
  • Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and site records
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers and stakeholders to ensure expectations are met
  • Support temporary works processes, including briefs, checks and approvals
  • Coordinate civils activities around mechanical, electrical and commissioning works
  • Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture on site

Qualifications

Essential:

  • CSCS Black Card – Site Manager and SMSTS
  • NVQ Level 6 or 7 in Construction Site Management
  • First Aid at Work (3-day)
  • Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Coordinator
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate preferred, or IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum
  • EUSR Water Hygiene (Blue Card)
  • Confined Space – Medium Risk
  • Experience as a Site Manager on heavy civils, water or wastewater schemes
  • Working knowledge of CESWI, WIMES and water company standards

Desirable:

  • High-risk confined space training
  • Experience on design & build or ECI projects
  • Previous Site Manager experience coordinating civils with MEICA installation and commissioning
