About the Role
Our client are a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks solutions across the North East. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee plotworks projects in and around Stockton-on-Tees.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to programme delivery, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations on plotworks schemes (roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, external works).
- Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and materials.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, local authorities, and utility providers.
- Monitor programme progress and report to Contracts Manager.
- Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and quality checks.
- Ensure accurate record keeping, RAMS implementation, and site documentation control.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering and groundworks.
- Strong background in plotworks (housing infrastructure experience preferred).
- SMSTS (essential)
- CSCS (Black/Gold Card)
- First Aid at Work
- Temporary Works Coordinator (advantageous)
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
