Site Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of a tier-one civil engineering contractor working on a long-term AMP8 framework with United Utilities, delivering a wide range of major capital works. They are now seeking a highly skilled Site Manager to join the team, responsible for delivering complex and high-value projects in the clean and wastewater sector.

The successful Site Manager will be overseeing multiple civil engineering projects, including shaft sinking, FRC works, and MEICA integration. The role requires strong leadership and a collaborative approach to safely deliver projects to programme and budget.

Key Responsibilities for the Site Manager:

  • Act as Site Manager on multiple projects across the water and civil engineering sectors.

  • Take full responsibility for site-based operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, to the required quality, on time and within budget.

  • Lead and manage site teams including Sub Agents, Engineers, and General Foremen.

  • Develop and implement RAMS, ITPs, and Safe Systems of Work in accordance with company standards.

  • Work closely with commercial teams to ensure site cost performance and project value is maximised.

  • Produce and manage detailed construction programmes and 4-week lookahead plans.

  • Liaise with the procurement team to ensure the site has the required materials, plant, and resources.

  • Maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships, acting as a professional ambassador on site.

  • Monitor, record, and report on project progress with clear, accurate documentation.

  • Chair weekly site meetings, promoting a high-performance culture across the workforce.

Essential Skills & Experience for the Site Manager:

  • Substantial experience in a Site Manager or Site Agent role delivering civil engineering and water infrastructure projects.

  • Proven track record of managing projects involving shaft sinking, deep excavations, and reinforced concrete (FRC) structures.

  • Experience in highly regulated environments, ideally within the utilities or water sectors.

  • Sound working knowledge of CDM regulations, NEC/JCT contracts, programme management and cost control.

  • HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.

  • CSCS (Site Manager level) and SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely.

  • Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary site teams, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery.

  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience working on United Utilities or similar water frameworks.

  • Confined Space Training, First Aid, and NRSWA certification.

  • Awareness of MEICA disciplines within water treatment and pumping stations.
