Senior Engineer

We are working with a leading main contractor in the Highways and Flood Defense sector to recruit a Senior Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key infrastructure projects, overseeing setting out, quality assurance, and site management. Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform daily setting out tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to Junior Engineers, fostering their development.
  • Oversee and track all site sample and performance testing, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments, along with preparing method statements for safe execution of work.
  • Manage site service plans and drawings, ensuring proper permit issuance in accordance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Site QS and Project Manager to supply necessary information for record-keeping and claims purposes.
  • Monitor and manage the implementation of temporary works, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all activities align with quality, safety, and environmental policies, as well as company procedures.

What do we need from you?

  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and confident communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively liaise with a range of professionals across various disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in setting out for infrastructure projects, including highways, roads, and earthworks.
  • Proficiency in working with Leica/Geomax surveying equipment and transferring information from AutoCAD to surveying tools.
  • Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance processes.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide teams.
  • Solid understanding of construction practices and project execution.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel throughout the Eastern region.
  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • First Aid at Work qualification (desirable).

Salary for this role will be dependent upon experience and discussed upon shortlisting.
