Project Manager

Overview — Project Manager, London

We are working with an exciting contractor to recruit a Project Manager to lead multiple civil, utilities and rail-related projects across London. You will be accountable for safe, on-time delivery to budget and programme, driving commercial performance and client satisfaction while working closely with estimating, design and site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of projects from design through to completion and handover, ensuring quality and client requirements are met.

  • Produce and own project forecasts, cost control, change management and monthly performance reporting.

  • Develop, manage and challenge programmes and short-term look-ahead plans (Primavera P6 or equivalent).

  • Chair site meetings, maintain clear site records and ensure effective subcontractor management.

  • Drive constructible, cost-effective engineering solutions and coordinate site investigations and temporary works.

  • Maintain robust project plans, risk registers, method statements, environmental and waste plans.

  • Act as H&S leader on projects: cascade briefings, ensure procedures are followed and maintain HSE documentation.

  • Manage quality delivery: produce/close out ITPs, QA files, technical queries, as-builts and O&M manuals.

  • Support estimating and commercial activities, including preparing proposals for additional works and pursuing new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and demonstrable civil/utility/rail project experience.

  • CSCS Manager card, SMSTS and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

  • Proven experience with Primavera P6 (or similar) and short-term look-ahead programme management.

  • Strong commercial awareness, cost forecasting and contract management experience (NEC3/4 familiarity desirable).

  • Excellent communication, leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Experience with temporary works coordination and site supervision responsibilities.

Preferred / Desirable

  • Chartered status (CEng/MICE) or working towards it.

  • Experience on projects for organisations such as Thames Water or Network Rail.

  • LUL BTA / PTS, AP Lifting, TWC or other relevant site tickets.

  • Previous CRE-C or similar role experience on complex civils/rail works.
