Project Manager

Overview

We are working with a tier one contractor who are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex civil engineering projects across the water, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. You will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from design and planning through to construction and handover—ensuring safety, quality, programme compliance, and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects to time, cost, and quality targets.

  • Develop and maintain project programmes using Primavera P6 or equivalent tools.

  • Oversee site teams, sub-contractors, and suppliers, ensuring alignment with contract specifications.

  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, and reporting in line with internal processes.

  • Ensure the production and implementation of site documentation including RAMS, ITPs, environmental plans, and handover packs.

  • Champion health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and other statutory requirements.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal departments.

  • Manage design integration and drive engineering solutions that are safe, buildable, and cost-effective.

  • Maintain accurate records, lead site meetings, and support the resolution of technical queries and commercial variations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering heavy civils, water, utilities, or infrastructure projects

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC 3/4 contracts and subcontractor management

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 planning and look-ahead scheduling

  • SMSTS, CSCS (Manager level), and NEBOSH Construction Certificate

  • MEICA knowledge and temporary works coordination/supervision experience

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Desirable:

  • Chartered status (CEng MICE or equivalent)

  • Experience on Thames Water or rail infrastructure projects

  • NRSWA accreditation and Appointed Person (Lifting) training

  • Familiarity with JCT forms of contract
