Managing Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure 
 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure programme delivering long-term capital works across water and civil engineering frameworks.

This role offers the chance to take real ownership of commercial performance across complex infrastructure schemes ranging from reactive maintenance works through to multi-million-pound capital delivery projects.

You will be part of a collaborative delivery environment with a strong pipeline of secured work across the UK water and infrastructure sector, offering long-term stability and clear career progression.

The Role

You will be responsible for the commercial management of infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate cost control, robust forecasting, and effective contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.

Projects include water infrastructure, pipelines, utilities, treatment works, and wider civil engineering schemes delivered under NEC and framework-based contracts.

You will work closely with operational and delivery teams to ensure commercial performance is maximised and project risks are effectively managed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage cost reporting, CVRs, forecasts, and cash flow reporting
  • Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation, and commercial management
  • Administer NEC and IChemE contracts including change control and applications for payment
  • Manage subcontract accounts through to final account settlement
  • Support project teams with commercial advice, forecasting, and performance tracking
  • Manage contractual risk, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and delivery teams
  • Identify commercial opportunities and drive efficiencies across project delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or water sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (IChemE experience advantageous)
  • Proven background in commercial management, forecasting, and subcontract administration
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with the ability to manage risk and drive value
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Professional membership (RICS / CIOB / CICES) desirable or working towards
