We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer or experienced Civil Engineer to join an award winning Civil and Structural consultant firm in based in Gateshead.

With a variety of projects and lots of work in the pipeline, this role will especially suit someone who considers themselves a good allrounder. You will have expertise in Drainage and Highway design, SuDS, Flood Risk Assessments, and Earthworks. Your role will include leading day to day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, and construction.

Supported by a team of the experienced technical staff of various grades with whom you will collaborate to ensure projects are delivered on programme and within budget to the quality expected by our clients.

 

The role of the Senior Civil Engineer/Technician role will involve:

 

  • Working on a range of projects including Housing, Commercial, Residential and Extra Care developments

  • Using design based software for innovative infrastructure solutions

  • Both public and private sector projects

  • Working to relevant UK design standards.

 

The ideal candidate will have :

 

  • BEng, Meng, MSc, HND or HNC in Civil Engineering together with a minimum 4 years post qualification experience working within an engineering consultancy environment.

  • Be able to produce drainage and highway drawings, design calculations, technical reports and site appraisals.

  • Knowledge of UK planning procedures and relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Local Authority Design Guidance and preparation of technical approvals.

  • Working understanding of technical software including AutoCAD, Microdrainage/Flow, Causeway Live/PDS/Civil 3D and AutoTrack.

  • Experience working with residential developers

  • Strong written and verbal skills in English

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative on technical matters and provide support or mentoring to others within the team

  • A full UK driving license would be advantageous
